Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest

One very noteworthy entry was in the 1990 Eurovision when Toto Cotugno, a singer/songwriter from Italy performed his composition "Insieme 1992" referring to the creation of the European Union (which superceded the European Economic Community.)

The 1992 Eurovision in Sweden had an interesting stage set to reflect the history of the host country - a Viking ship. It looked like the bow of a Viking ship, with a dragon in the centre and stars on either side.

English is fast becoming the language of choice for Eurovision entries. In the year 2000, there were thirteen songs sung entirely in English from entries by Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Malta's entry was sung in both English and Maltese.

Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites). Enjoy the videos!
