Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest
Eurovison 1962 had "negative" effects (pardon the pun) on the Dutch entry. Just as De Spelbrekers were in the midst of performing their song Katinka, the studio lights went out. Because of an error in the connection between The Netherlands and Luxembourg, viewers had to watch the contest in the negative!
Johnny Logan, singer/songwriter and contender of many Eurovision contests, won the 1980 competition. At the time he held Australian nationality but later obtained an Irish passport. His real name is Sean Sherrard.
Up until 1971 the rules of Eurovision allowed only solo-artists or duos to participate in the contest. More people were allowed, but only if they were back-up vocalists.
Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites). Enjoy the videos!
