Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest

The winners of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, the Finnish hard-rock monster-band Lordi, have released a new iPhone game, called Lordi The Game.  Its about 'banishing the undead from the underworld',  and is categorized as a rhythm-based action game. It features music from their upcoming album Babez for Breakfast. You can download it in the iTunes store.

Fud Leclerc, the man who represented Belgium four times at the Eurovision Song Contest, passed away on September 21, 2010.

Despite widespread discontent about "political voting" at the ESC do not hold your breath as it is not about to change. Greece and Cyprus had always given each other 12 points, as well as among the Nordic countries. In an effort to stem this activity the ESC replaced national juries with national televotes. While it is definitely a change it is not a solution. Large immigrant populations in other nations have a tendency to vote for their homeland en masse. It is a fact of life, political voting is the norm in the contemporary ESC. So get over it, and just enjoy the wonderful music!

Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites). Enjoy the videos!
