~ Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam: Let The Beat Hit ‘Em
Some songs deserve to be dug out of the vaults and given a second chance of life, if only to save us from all the Unchained Melody covers and boring now live lounge tributes to Gnarls Barkley and Justin Timberlake. I don’t remember much about this act or this song other than I totally loved it. It was kind of like the less weird but just as funky cousin of Groove Is In The Heart. Dj beats, soaring female vocal, danceability and still catchy as heck, this is the sort of song that new groups (boy or girl or both) should be seeking out to make an impact.
~ JC Chasez: All Day Long I Dream About Sex
Why is it that the really great electro-pop hits never smash as big as they should. I was devastated when I Said Never Again (all about botty love) wasn’t top three. Ditto the criminal underwhelming reception Beware Of The Dog received. And while Phixx pretended to be the male Girls Aloud, they really weren’t because JC has come up with the most inventive and exciting electro-pop song for a boy in ages. And of course it got nowhere. A swirling concoction of thumping bass and thrashy guitars against an electro backdrop, this is one song that can’t remain in the vaults. I’d personally love Digital to cover it, but imagine how off the wall and amazing it would be if Eton Road took a chance on it…
~ The Party: I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend
