Live From Esprit Arena
Dusseldorf, Germany
Did you miss the First and Second Semi-Finals?
Watch it ALL over again! The Semi-Finals will be held on May 10 and 12
and the FINAL on May 14!
Don't miss it! And don't forget to vote!
Eurovison Song Contest of 2011 has presented the very best performers that Europe has to offer to the world! They each have unique talents and easily merit top billing in any music venue. But alas, there can be only one winner! Who will win is anybody's guess! While I have my favorite (Poland's Magdalena Tul, for her song, "Jestem") I do commend the other participants for a job well done.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching these videos, and would like to give special mention to certain artists whose performances I believe have been nothing less than stellar!

(POLAND) Magdalena Tul "Jestem" |
Magdalena Tul
A class act, and wonderful singer, she has great stage presence. Definitely, Las Vegas material. I hope she wins! Move over Celine Dion, here comes Magdelena Tul!
Kati Wolf
A definite contender for the Eurovision prize. Although she is very talented, her song is a bit too low key and does not demonstrate the full range of her musical talent. She is fantastic, though!
(NORWAY) Stella Mwangi "Haba Haba" |
Stella Mwangi
Haba Haba has got to be the single most popular song of the Eurovision Song Contest of 2011! Without a doubt, its hugely popular in cyberspace!! Love it! Love it! Love it!
(ALBANIA) Aurela Gace "Feel The Passion" |
Aurela Gace
She is a Powerhouse Singer with a great deal of passion in her songs, and in its interpretation. Her music and performance left me spellbound.
(TURKEY) Yüksek Sadakat "Live it Up" |
Yuksek Sadakat
Great Song! Great Band! Great Rock! This is the Best of Rock music! Fantastic!
(SWEDEN) Eric Saade "Popular" |
Eric Saade
What can one say about a singer who is a teenage "heart-throb"? The camera loves him, and so does every squealing teenage girl in the audience. One difference, though, Saade has loads of talent! In his video, he presents one of the most dynamic and original stage performances I have yet seen - the glass smashing incident is totally wild! Eric, you have nothing to worry about - you are definitely Popular!!
Eurovision 2011 Moldova - Zdop si Zdup - So lucky |
Zdop si Zdup
At first I thought the tall cone hats were far too bizzare for my taste, but listen to this band! They have amazing talent - music, lyrics, and stage presence. Loads of fun and simply unforgettable!! I like the unicycle act and the bursts of fire on stage and utter madness, mayhem and insanity! I am playing this song on my birthday!
(ARMENIA) Emmy "Boom Boom" |
Emmy
Eurovision definitely has its surprises and Emmy is one of them. I was expecting a rather folksy somber tune performed in her native language, but instead she belted out a song in English, and one which had distinct Latino rhythms. Bravissima Emmy!
One of the few participants who does not sing in English, but who cares! She is superb! Music is great and so is her stage presence! Don't know if it was her intention, but the act came across as a bit too much of the "Sixties" era. Still, a great show! Bravo Nina!
(SLOVAKIA) TWIins "I'm Still Alive" |
TWIins
These two ladies are definitely showstoppers and not because they are Twins, or because they are simply gorgeous! They are talented in their own right, and have immense stage presence. Their video, "I'm Still Alive" was apparently filmed during the Miss Universe contest. It's a great song, although it does become somewhat monotonous. A remake is definitely worth it! I love the music and lyrics!
(BULGARIA) Poli Genova "Na inat" |
Poli Genova
She is loaded with talent, and performs her song with power and passion! She sings from the soul. A true artist! Definitely a force to be reckoned with!
(GREECE) Loucas Yiorkas "Watch My Dance" |
Loucas Yiorkas
Loucas Yiorkas does not disappoint and delivers a powerful, emotional performance on stage with Greek flair and panache. Unfortunately he allows himself to be upstaged by Stereo Mike
whose rendition of rap (sung in English) leaves much to be desired. I love rap when its performed well, but I ended up counting the seconds until Stereo Mike was finished with his little refrain. But thankfully, Loucas outshines his stage side-kick.
(IRELAND) Jedward "Lipstick" |
Jedward
More twins at Eurovision! Is it a coincidence or is there a secret conspiracy! These two young fellows have the kind of stage energy that can only be described as Atomic! Double that (pardon the pun) with a great song, and novelty hair - and you have a hit in the making! Mothers, lock up your daughters!! Jedward is dangerous!!
(FRANCE) Amaury Vassili "Sognu" |
Amaury Vassili
From the very moment the first note resonated from his lips, the audiences around the world (and I) were spellbound. His voice is truly a gift from God and his video is one of the most memorable among a slew of talented artists. Sheer Perfection - with classical features to match. The question is, can an operatic singer win a pop song contest?
There are so many other participants worthy of mention but it was impossible to include them all at this late juncture. Their omission is certainly not meant as an offense in any way. I have presented music videos of each of the 43 contestants, and provided links to where one may read more about each artist. I hope you have enjoyed them, and that you will log on and watch the semi-finals and finals!!
The First Semi-Final is on May 10
The Second Semi-Final is on May 12
Final on May 14!
Enjoy the show!
