Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest

During the 1990 Eurovision, a contestant from Spain walked off the stage at the start of their performance. Apparently, the track to their song, "Bandito" did not start at the very beginning, causing the singing duo to miss their cue. They did return after some delay, but unfortunately the damage was already done. They finished fifth in the competiton.(Was it accident or sabotage?)

The halftime entertainment during the 1969 Eurovision can be described in a number of ways - Felliniesque, horrific, or a magical mushroom ride. It featured "La Espagna differente", a film set to music that reminisced of classic 1920 horror films, while images flashed on the screen of aerial panaroma of farmland, water fountains, windmills, planes, strange rock formations, fire (a lot of it ) , castles, balloons, and anything the cat dragged home. If there is any correlation between all these images, please let me know. Just curious.

Many languages are normally heard during Eurovision Song Contest - French, English, German, Italian, Dutch, Danish and Swedish. Which of these languages was not heard in the 1958 Eurovision contest? Answer: English. That year there was no song sung in English. The UK did not compete that year.

Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites.) Enjoy the videos!
