Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest
The Esprit Stadium is the venue for the semi-finals and final of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Dusseldorf, Germany. The stadium was constructed in 2002-2004, and cost 240 million Euros. It has a seating capacity of 54,000 (expandable to 66,500 for concerts) and features a retractable sliding roof, It was the venue for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. They have presented many sporting and music events from all over the world.
It is rare for an entry not to receive any points in all, but it does happen. In fact, since 1978 there have been 15 entries with nul points, two of them in the same year - 1983, Turkey's "Opera" by Çetin Alp and Short Wave and Spain's "¿Quién maneja mi barca?" by Remedios Amaya.
Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites). Enjoy the videos!
