Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest
Morocco participated only once in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980. Unfortunately, their debut was unsuccessful.
Eurovision has become a logistical nightmare for the entrants and virtual armies of journalists from across the globe in attendance. And the most expensive venue in the world. Norway spent about 211 million kroner (£23 milion) when it hosted the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest to an stadium of 39,000 people. Its all been a contest of getting bigger and better every year, which puts a financial crunch on smaller participating countries who can ill-afford it.
The United Kingdom holds the record for hosting Eurovision Contest the most times - 1960, 1963, 1968, 1972, 1974, 1977, 1982 and 1998. A total of eight times. Apparently, the BBC had to take over the reins when other broadcasters fell short of carrying out their obligations.
Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites). Enjoy the videos!
