Well in the words of the ace of base Lilleth of Allen, fuck you Ryan Air. Fuck you very very much. I tell ya, you buy cheap you buy twice. Which is exactly what has happened to me and the ever burgeoning dazpecs. We had our lovely summer break booked for Salou in Spain - booked the hotel, and then some nicely timed flights through Ryan Air. Who then moved the times to much more inconvenient times. We swallowed that (we so often do. Well I do...) but then the mo'fo's moved the times of the flight again so it was almost a different day and would have resulted in more time off work! So dazpecs and I had to cancel and now have to wait 30 working (working!) days for a refund. In the meantime, we chatted about it last night and decided to do something completely different for us. So a lovely holiday in an Austrian village awaits us. I am so going to yodel and prance around singing songs from the Sound of Music. I'm sure Darren can't wait... Anyway! On with the post. Bit of a hotchpotch today. Answering five questions posed to me by this post (feel free to ask for five questions from me in the comments. Or not. Whatevs) and then some cool stuff that has been happening this week for some of my fave upcoming acts...
QUESTION TIME WITH DANUSA/FIZZYPOP:
Q: What is the most important thing that blogging has done for you?
A: 2 things I guess. One is that it has made me realise that blogging really isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. I used to take it UBER seriously. Now i see it as a hobby and realise that spending time with my friends, playing piano, family time, etc are much more valuable to me. The coolest thing blogging has provided me with is a bunch of international friends who I absolutely adore. You know who you loveable little ragamuffins are :P
Q: When was the last time you got a paper cut?
A: Fuck knows! I can't remember so it can't have been that recently! I'm such a baby about this things. I have no pain threshold and i whine about it until it has disappeared. I do have blisters on my feet at the moment because of stupid new shoes and darren hears a running commentary on how they are doing pretty much daily!
Q: What do gay and straight men have to bring to each other? Is the divide to wide to bridge?
A: Wow that is a great question and requires someone a lot smarter than me to answer it. My take on the situation is that straight men bring gay men a lot of fantasies about turning them :P And gay men bring straight men the opportunity to metrosexualise themselves and learn how to approach the subject of botty love with their lady folk. Yet my best male friendships apart from Darren have all been with straight men. I seem to get on with them better and are some of the most tolerant inclusive people I know. No way is my divide to wide to bridge (how euphemistic!!)
Q: If you had to live without either tv or internet, which would you pick?
A: Oh tv definitely! I can download all the shows from the internet anyway :P And if i wasn't allowed to do that (like it's so legal now!) then i'd be quite happy with my world of books. But the internet is also a communication tool - not just a global pornography network, and provides me with so much music. So I could live without tv. Am i allowed to watch my Buffy dvd boxsets though?!
Q: When are you coming to visit us in Iowa? I need someone to help me with my wardrobe!
A: I seriously need to do a bloggers tour of the united states. It is preposterous that I have only met XO from America! Although that is not to denigrate that epic meeting. It was quite lovely though far too short. And I think Heidi does a very decent job with your wardrobe! Though I would love to drag you round a million clothes shops as Darren gets very bored of that. So yes, let's plan something. Or come to Florida for thanksgiving!
Merci beaucoup pour la tres interesant uh questions :)
CATCHING UP WITH THE POTENTIALS OF POP:
James Leon ~ the lovely James not only distracts me from work daily on msn, but is fast becoming a big name on the London club scene. He's been trashed and decoded and has some exciting stuff coming up. His excellent track Never Been Cool has been playlisted over at this website, and Camera Shy is giving me all sorts of human-league esque orgasms! But of course, it is the bloggy love for Club With No Name, that was premiered here a couple of months ago that has me smiling still everytime I hear it. James is back in the studio soon to record some more magic, and has promised to write up a review of Kylie in concert for la fizzles of popular very soon indeed. Check out his myspace here. Plus in match made in heaven news - one of James' first recording was called zap! It could have so been a theme for the lost lamented (by some?!) zapping website :P
Ryan Ferrada ~ Oh. My. Dayz. Remember when i got all hot and bothered about Ryan with his very groove filled club song Touch You Sexy? It's been a while, but he's burning up (sadly his Kylie cover of that name won't see the light of day. Booooo) the european clubs with his amazing new single. Dirty In The Clubs is so packed to the gills with dancey goodness, pulsating beats and a VERY seductive vocal that it is practically splitting at the seams. Add into this a radio remix by house supremo Solitaire (who recently remixed some of Donna Summer's new stuff) and I'm pretty positive this will blow up all over the world very shortly. You can listen to it - and a multitude of other mixes - at his myspace site.
Robert O'Connor ~ It shames me that I have still to post my album review of Mr O'Connor's very lovely debut album, but I will do so very soon. In the meantime, having been lucky enough to see some of Robert's songs progress from the demo stage to the fully produced stage, I noticed that some of his ideas were brutally stolen by that godbother Natasha Bedingfield. About 2 years ago, he had an ace track out called Save You which was then remixed to the tune of Chicane's Saltwater and a mighty pop dance tune it was too! And now bloody Nats has rerecorded her version of I Bruise Easily (me too luv, like a peach!) to the very same tune. Who would've thought that the music world is full of people who nick other ideas and use them for themselves?! Check out Robert's version on his myspace and imagine a world where this was THE tune of ibiza instead of nat's....
