Hurrah! I survived my first week in my new job :) And even though I loved it, it was pretty exhausting as these things often are at first. But enough of that, because guess what everyone? Yes the red cups are here and I can officially move into my far too early Christmas preparation mode. I've had my first delicious Dark Cherry Mocha and it was heaven in a cardboard cup. And lots of Christmassy things seem to be coming together this week, so just for this update (at least til much later in November) I'll be getting my baubles out for you all and get my festive frisk on for this year's very first (of many no doubt) Christmas themed post. Hurrah (and boo you grinches who aren't ready for this yet :P)
TWEET THE WEEK:
- As everyone and his bloody dog knows by now, the Pet Shop Boys are releasing a Christmas EP based around one of my fave festive tunes It Doesn't Often Snow At Christmas. Not only does it have a new version of that song but a studio version of Viva La Vida mixed with Domino Dancing! Amazing much? It could well be the second time that a Viva La Vida cover tops my charts this year. I'm positively kvelling. For full details of the EP see quality write ups at the always reliable Chartrigger and Vinny Vero :) Now would it kill Erasure to do a Crackers International 2?
- Also getting ready to debut their now traditional Christmas singles are The Killers (with the fascinatingly titled Happy Birthday Guadalupe) and George Michael (as yet untitled - as far as I know - but the follow up to last years December Song) - I'm always appreciative when acts do these little interim releases inbetween albums :)
- Who I'd like an annual Christmas single from: The Feeling did Feels Like Christmas last year and if they were to make it a yearly thing, I'd quite like that actually, yes I would :) Ditto St Etienne who did the insanely marvelous I Was Born On Christmas Day many moons ago. And double ditto Maroon 5 who did Happy Christmas (War is Over) some years back but could easily whip out a nice festive rock tune or ballad. Just a suggestion...
- I'm anxious to go and see Disney's A Christmas Carol 3D at the IMAX around the corner from my place. I'm a bit torn - do I go now even though even I feel it's a bit early or do I wait til closer to the celebration of the birth of Santa but feel antsy from the wait?! Or I could go twice. Decisions decisions. It does look proper marv though...
- Only one week til Matchless by Gregory Maguire is released in the UK :) (That gives me a week to read the new Adrian Mole which I picked up today. First edition too - I'm so anal about getting those :P)
- Finally, not very festive but I couldn't be more happy that Same Difference have signed a new record deal, are releasing a tweaked version of Pop (or Pop2010 as I know call it) worldwide and are working on a new album too. Go to D'Luv to hear a clip of the marvelous Souled Out that I blogged about here. In fact let's post that pic of me with them again :)
