A Private Affair: 1,652,248

VERY ZAPPY 2008 TO YOU ALL…

Can you believe it’s 2008? Yikes! That was a drunken Darren and a hocked up on cold medicine me last night at our local pub (with random guy in the middle in the background!!) where a jolly good time was had. More on that later… Anyway, the number at the top in the pre-amble title is the number of hits thezapping had in 2007, with 71,076 original visitors. I have no idea what that means, but it all sounds very good! Anyway, below is a bit of a summary of what happened between Christmas eve and now…

THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Dec 24th ~ No work today. Went to pub with Mark, Burn-ice and Darren. They hardly played any festive music. Twas rubbish. Came home and watched festive films and listened to all i want for Christmas is you to make up for it…
Dec 24th ~ Oh no! Talking about scrooge. Our good friends Justin and Paul are burgled and the tree and presents and tv are stolen. I can’t imagine anything worse. In other crappy Christmas eve news, Amelle Sugababe’s boyfriend gets seriously attacked with a machete.
Dec 25th ~ Darren wakes up at a ridiculously early 4am and insists we get up to open presents. I shake the bleariness out of my eyes and we swop gifts which include a ridiculous amount of DVDs (Hairspray Shimmy and Shake edition, Harry Potter 5, The Tudors, Catherine Tate, Dr Who, etc), some games, books and a nintendo ds (for brain training) which i desperately need as I seem to have no memory at the moment!! Mortified that my brain age is in it’s 70s…
Dec 25th ~ Christmas tv is a big deal in England. Dr Who was quite touching (more on that later in the week) but pretty much everything else was rubbish. All the more time to spend with (yo)DaZpants.
Dec 26th ~ on the way to Darren’s mom’s boat, we stopped off at a furniture store and accidentally bought a new bedroom set (see above) which was ridiculously expensive. Still it will look aces when it’s all been fitted. The in-laws was fun. People loved the brain training. I improved my brain by a good twenty years. Woo Hoo!
Dec 27th ~ In need of some publicity, Damon Albarn from whichever band he’s in nowadays spouts on about how the X-Factor needs to be cancelled. Yes, this year was rubbish but at least it provided me with the saviours of pop aka Same Difference. Meanwhile, Dazza and I hit the sales. I have never seen so many people grabbing clothes that clearly didn’t suit them like their lives depended on it!!
Dec 29th ~ Had a lovely evening out with Ruthiepoos, Lou and our Dark Knight special effects editing buddy Stuart. I haven’t seen Stuart for ages, but when I asked if people could guess the first movie I watched post Christmas, he alarmingly guessed correctly Bratz. How shameful. We played Balderdash and a jolly jape was had by all. Brain training up to age 39! I am practically Steven Hawkins but without the looks…
Dec 30th ~ Finally got around to reading the 3 week old Attitude magazine with Mark “westlife” Feehily and Kevin “V” Down on the cover. Their interview is quite touching. Popjustice put up their top singles of the year. It is almost identical to the Attitude list.
Dec 31st ~ New Years Eve! Lots of fun was had, despite my raging cold, blocked nose, sore throat and hacking cough. In fact up til about 12.40am it was all dancing to S Club and Valerie and Abba, then some woman who wouldn’t look out of place on the set of Shameless spilt beer all over me and didn’t even apologise, while in the bathroom a man started stroking himself and looking knowingly at me! Good lord.
