Essential Youtube clippage:

Ray Quinn was easily as annoying as the weirdly named Eoghan Quigg on the X Factor. Yet he's proved to be something of an amazing skater on this year's Dancing on Ice. The above performance is easily as good as anything in the final few weeks of last years show, and it's only week two! Also rather ace is Jessica from Liberty X, and some blue peter chick who did a fun skate to the best song by the worst person ever. Totally cute. Talking of totally cute, how adorable is spunky Roxanne - totally reminds me of adorable Victoria Justice (note to Victoria and Simon ~ if you ever get the chance to compete in Dancing On Ice in the UK, do it do it do it!!)

Best selection of single and album tracks - Feb 09:

- Kelly Clarkson, My Life Would Suck Without You: (Why? Because it could easily be hot and cold but it's not sung by the spawn of the devil. And it's a smashing return to form for the Kellster. Brava madam, brava)
- Scissor Sisters, Do The Strand: (Why? It's more shivering cool electro pop from the quirky pop group that's more Comfortably Numb than I Don't Feel Like Dancing. Could be the beginning of the greatest third pop album ever since Kylie's Rhythm of Love)
- Take That, Up All Night: (Why? Why not is more the question! Perhaps not the most solid choice of second single from the album, but it is definitely more premiere pop goodness from Britain's most enduring boyband. Too much to ask for The Garden as single 3?)
- Simon Curtis/Victoria Justice, The Things We Do For Love: (Why? Oh my god, if you don't know by now, then I really can't it explain it any further to you. Don't forget to rush out and buy the Spectacular soundtrack on Tues 3rd my obama loving buddies across the ocean!)
- Same Difference, If You Can't Dance: (Why? Well first off, kudos to me for placing this after the other cutest duet out this month! It may not be the strongest track on the album, but it's an ace slice of brillo pop that matches the siblings personalities perfectly.)
- Neo, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing: (Why? He could very well be as big as Mika and although not the best track on the album, it's a rather fantastic introduction to the curly haired Linus and another perfectly placed pop number after the dancey S'Diff)
- Das Pop, Underground: (Why? Not quite as charming as Alphabeat but imagine that group mixed with a very tiny bit of the Feeling - and if you listen to the right remix then a twinge of Van She too. It's actually all quite pleasing isn't it?)
- Little Boots, Meddle: (Why? Well not quite as enticing as La Roux but far far more paletable than the walking snatch that is lady Gaga and whether you listen to this track in its electro bonkers version or acoustic, it's still largely endearing)
- St Etienne, Method of Modern Love: (Why? As XO says, it has a got a brilliant driving beat that really propels the song. To me, it's like a reswizzled version of Kylie's The One, which means it's proper brillo. Appropriate too, since Kylie did an ace St Etienne cover back in the 90s)
- Enrique, Taking Back My Love: (Why? I think poor Enrique often gets overlooked as a purveyor of fine pop music, and actually he's been fairly consistent with his output even since i fell in love with Could I Have This Kiss Forever. This is nearly but not quite as brillo as that!)
- Darin, See You At The Club: (Why? Frankly I'm a little puzzled why Darin isn't a worldwide star yet - still these things take time, and perhaps in a year this pulsating jam will be as ubiquitous as Just Dance, only Darin is far more appealing to look at :P )
- Infernal, Punk Disco: (Why? After the ace Downtown Boys, Whenever You Need Me and Electric Light, this is a spazztastic pop track that would shimmer up the UK top ten if it were given half the chance. Brilliantly insane and it works on every single level. As does....)
- Annie, Can't Let Go: (Why?... this track. The description I've used for Punk Disco works perfectly for what could be an amazing Annie single, which in a fair world would make an enticing and superb fourth single from the norwegian song birds second album. Poor Annifernal. British and worldwide stardom seems to elude them. Booooo!)
- Little Jackie, Guys Like When Girls Kiss: (Why? Oh I'm loyal me. The british public flirted with Little Jackie for a brief period last year when The Whole World Should Revolve Around Me hit the charts. Then nothing. This should be a single and a massive hit, even if i get the feeling that only me, DanUK and Poppostergirl might appreciate it. Hint: Check out their brillo cover of Viva La Vida!)
- Alesha Dixon, Breathe Slow: (Why? It's this years No Air. It's a bonafide pop hit that has slowly but surely climbed the British charts weeks before it's release. Alesha sounds quite lovely on the track. I utterly want her to succeed while that skanky Javine scrobbles in the gutter for bit parts on tv shows. And so on. Delicious)
- Vanessa Amorossi, Simple Things: (Why? I wasn't so sure about Kiss Your Mama - too similar to the far superior Shock Your Mama - but Perfect was just that and totally bought me back to camp VanAm. This follow up single is not quite as good but right up there and has a bit of a pleasant country twang to it).
- Alanis Morrisette, In Praise Of The Vulnerable Man: (Why? Because once again loyalty pays off - Alanis' last album is the gift that keeps on giving and although largely ignored by the record buying public, you really can't pass up gems like this. I still hold that each alanis album is easily worth six singles)
- Annie Lennox, Shining Light: (Why? Superior to the keane penned song that graces her Greatest Hits, this is uplifting cover version of the Ash tune that instantly sounds like it was born to be sung by Annie. A very wise blogger suggested that Annie team up with Will Young for some songs, and i totally concur)
- Taylor Swift, Love Story!: (Why? Ooo taylor, how you have won me over to your nashville ways with this totally charming and adorable tune. It's quite the package - utterly cute video, a song that tells a story and a glorious key change. I smell an international hit!)
- Jonas Bros, Tonight: (Why? They are no McFly and certainly no Click Five, but search hard enough and there are easily 5 decent tracks on each of their albums. This is one of those songs and quite rightly they have chosen it for a single. Kudos you ragamuffin looking millenial Hanson!)
- Metro Station, Shake It: (Why? Oh my good garden gnomes, i am not sure whether I can cope with liking another musical Cyrus, but this is quite addictive. And perky. And punky. And poppy. And by far the standout of their album, but perhaps that's a listening work in progress...)
