Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest

The 2007 Eurovision Contest in Helsinki had over 1,600 people in the production crew. Generators for the show used a total of five megawatts of power. Lighting and video consumed 1,537,350 W. It took 30 crew members to run the lighting and video, using 22,016 control channels on ten grandMAs and two grandMA Light consoles.

There are 400 moving lights and 620 conventionals, and 38 of the 281 rigging points are Cyberhoists for moving trusses. Fourteen Hipporizer media servers, 200 square meters of Barco MiTrix for a video backdrop and 125 square meters of Barco OLite 510 in the stage floor.

Another weird Eurovision act was in 2007, when Verka Serduckha, a 34 year old Ukrainian drag queen, finished in second place with the song, "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" He, or she was clad in what appeared to have been Bacofoil. Needless to say it was a memorable and flamboyant performance.

Senit

Every day until May 8 I will be posting a music video of each one of the semi-finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest. On May 9, I will post the last three (my top favorites). Enjoy the videos!

After listening to the 43 entries in Eurovision Song Contest 2011 two things appear to my mind.
- Most of the good songs are in semifinal 1
- There is a male pop-band trend
I hope the winner of ESC 2011 will be from a B-city: Baku, Budapest or Bucharest.

My favorites in semifinal 1, except for Hungary and Azerbaijan, are Greece, Turkey, Finland and San Marino.
Favorites in semifinal 2 are very few and so far I can only find two songs that appealed to me: Romania and Austria. But - it is 1,5 months until the final so I might change my mind in some of the cases.
