Interesting Facts about Eurovision Song Contest

According to the Eurovision executives, about 3-4 women win for every 1 man that wins the Contest. Er, so how is it that in 2005, that men were in the lead with 11 performers, and women with 21?

The most controversial winner of the Eurovison Song Contest is an Israeli transsexual, Dana International in 1998. He, or she, is participating again in the 2011 Eurovison.

Eurovision Song Contest has used many different voting systems over the years. After each entry was ranked according to the participating countries, they were assigned twelve points (Douze) for their favorite entry, ten points for their second entry, and so on. Since 2009, the points system has changed to a 50/50 ranking between telephone votes, and jury votes.

Loukas Giorka (Greece)

Tonight Greece made their decision among the six songs of which two were written by Swedes. Loukas Giorkas feat. Stereo Mike were the winner with the song "Watch My Dance". It's an interesting combination of a traditional Greek tune and modern rap. Honestly - I think it's a wonderful song but the rap-thing needs to be minimized. Loukas is a great singer and the melody goes straight into my heart.
Ikväll har Grekland haft sin final och det blev en spännande tillställning.Två av låtarna var skriva av svenskar. Vinnare blev Loukas Giorkas feat. Stereo Mike med låten "Watch My Dance". Det är en intressant kombination av modern rap och en traditionell grekisk låt som hämtad från en bouzouki-klubb. Ska jag vara ärlig så tycker jag det är en underbar sång med Loukas som fantastisk sångare. Det enda som krävs är att man minimerar rappandet.





Congratulate to the Danish representative in Eurovision Song Contast. Denmark voted for group called A Friend in London and their song "A New Tomorrow". It reminds very much of Andreas Johnson. The Unfortunately I couldn't follow the Danish final as I was in Malmö focusing on Melodifestivalen.
Grattis till Danmark för valet av gruppen A Friend in London  och deras låt "A New Tomorrow". Låten skulle kunna vara hämtad från Andreas Johnsons repertoar. Det verkar i alla fall gå bättre för den danska gruppen som nu är klara för Düsseldorf.

Since Helena Paparizou won Eurovision Song Contest 2005 she has mainly focused on her career in Greece and it has been very successful. Her latest award is platinum for the album "Giro Apo To Oneiro" released 2010. Today Helena is one of the absolute top-artists in Greece.
Sedan Helena Paparizou vann Eurovision Song Contest 2005 har hon i första hand satsat på en karriär i Grekland. Framgångarna har inte uteblivit. Den senaste utmärkelsen kom förra veckan när hon tilldelades platinum för sitt album "Giro Apo To Oneiro" från 2010. Det är bara att konstatera att Helena Paparizou tillhör toppskiket bland de grekiska artisterna.  


"Giro Apo To Oneiro" (= Around the dreams) is Paparizou's forth studio album in Greek. Her previous album from 2008 "Vrisko To Logo Na Zo" was also a success and sold platinum. Unfortunately none of them has been released in Sweden. The plan was to make an English version of "Vrisko To Logo Na Zo" but the sudden death of her father changed her focus. 
CD albumet "Giro Apo To Oneiro" (= Around the dreams) är Paparizou's fjärde studioalbum på grekiska. Även hennes förra album från 2008 "Vrisko To Logo Na Zo" har sålt platinum. Tanken var att detta album skulle utkomma i en engelsk version men så har inte skett och orsaken sägs hennes faders bortgång. Båda albumen har delvis spelats in i Sverige.
