If I weren't so busy at work and not really meant to be blogging at all, I would have A LOT more to say about the brilliant debut single from Same Difference. As it is, you can get all the information you require from the always amazing, sometimes sarcastic Popjustice website... including a brief clip of the very Steps/A*Teens sounding single. Which is fine with me. Because it sounds like it's going to be mega. Oh and the album is called Pop - not the single, as I erroneously reported on Friday :)

UPDATE: There are many things that spring to mind with the promo shot and the clip. Most of my thoughts all point to the fact that SD seem to be looking to the past to usher in a new era of pop. Here is why that is not a bad thing at all...
  • It is the best promo picture that looks vaguely Grease diner since this amazing shot of Girls Aloud...
  • Philosophers will probably say in years to come that it was postmodern ironic brilliance - Sean and Sarah featured in a shot that looks like it's in the past to kick down those walls to launch "nu-pop". Or something less wankery.
  • The ice cream is actually really cheap. No wonder Sarah looks like she is enjoying it so much. She has "scooped" herself up a real bargain. Titter, etc.
  • Sean looks a bit bemused by the rotary dial telephone. It's really not that hard to master - you just put your finger in the selected ring and wiggle...
  • The song itself sounds like a more up to date version of Steps "here and now" mixed with A*Teens Let Your Heart Do All The Talking.
  • And all the other quality pop songs of the early millenium. Borrowing from such a hallowed pop era is very wise indeed.
  • The album features a cover of "Turn It Into Love" and a 'reimagining' of the Marie Serneholt track "I Need A House". What this really means is they (the people behind SD) think not many people in this country will have heard that tune, so it's not officially a cover. Whatever. It will be amazing anyway...
  • I haven't been this excited by a clip of music since Simon Curtis sent me his song Pop Messiah while i was on holiday and the stupid internet cafe computer would only play bits of it...

Yes i got all that from a picture and 20 seconds of music. Amazing.
